The Lawton M. Chiles, Jr. Courthouse serves as the Lakeland headquarters for the Second District Court of Appeal. The courthouse is a single story concrete building that was constructed in 1961 and enlarged in 1985. As part of the Art in State Buildings project, the courthouse currently displays Florida themed artwork by Robert Butler.
