The Sam M. Gibbons United States Courthouse, located in downtown Tampa, was built in 1998 on the site of a farmhouse. The courthouse is 17 stories tall, but has the height of a 28 story building because the 17 courtrooms have 20 feet high ceilings. The modern federal design building was built for a cost of $75 million.
